Social and Psychological Factors in Eating Disorder Treatment and Recovery

Adolescents with eating disorders are invited to participate in this research.



Researchers at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania are seeking participants for research investigating social interactions and whether changes in information can influence social behaviours. This particular study focuses on behavioural assessments and tasks of social processing over the six-month timeline of the study. 


Theinformation collected in this study is essential for developing clinical treatments focused on addressing social processes in adolescents with restrictive eating disorders and improving our understanding of social processing in adolescents with restrictive eating disorders, informing both future research and clinical care. 



Eligibility criteria: 
• Adolescents 12 – 17 years of age who have been diagnosed with a restrictive eating disorder, and are living at home with parent(s)/guardian(s)
• All gender identities 
• All races and ethnicities 
• Able to provide informed consent and have a parent/guardian who is able to provide informed consent and willing to participate


Participation activities (all virtual): 
• Medical history with interviews 
• Online questionnaires 
• Online behavioural tasks 
• Provision of consent by the adolescent and their parent/guardian 

Participants can receive up to $250 in compensation.
