Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW) 2014 at NEDIC

At the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC), we know that talking saves lives. That's why we're raising our voices in promoting awareness of eating disorders for EDAW 2014 - February 2 - 8.

Here are our updates and activities for EDAW 2014:

Our goal is to reduce the prevalence of anorexia, bulimia, dieting and body image problems through a public education program examining the cultural, psychological and biological factors influencing their development.

We compiled a series of on-the-street interviews in Toronto in which we asked random people to share their views on eating disorders. There were many happy surprises. Check all five out on YouTube at:

We also have a number of other videos available on our YouTube site, all of which may be shared publicly.

Our voice has been heard by the City of Toronto: At NEDIC's urging, Mayor Rob Ford has officially proclaimed February 2 - 8, 2014 Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

We are very excited to invite you to join us at our spoken word event on Thursday February 6th in Toronto's Kensington Market. Come and hear creative works about body image, food and weight preoccupation, and simply what it feels like to be in our own skin. Join us for a night of fabulous food, community and dialogue. 7pm at Waterfalls Indian Tapas Bar & Grill, 303 Augusta Avenue, on Thursday, February 6th. This event is free (donations accepted at the door).

Please share these exciting EDAW initiatives. Thank you for your support, and we wish you the very best for Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2014!
